The Gates, Christo’s latest crazy-giant art thing opened today in New York City.

I went to the city to see the gates.. I must say that I am not as thrilled as some others may be. I understand the artistic statement and its pretty the first 5 minutes and the birds eye pictures are also pretty, but nearly 20 million dollars?! With the state our world is in right now.. just think about how much a 32nd of that money could have helped if it were donated to the tsunami relief. I wish it didn’t take a ton of big orange flags to bring said happiness to people even if it is NYC in the middle of winter.
