Okay, so maybe it’s not a staring contest as such, as they’re actually squaring up to each other for dominance. These two rats are actually brothers and strangely NEVER challenge each other in this…
Okay, so maybe it’s not a staring contest as such, as they’re actually squaring up to each other for dominance. These two rats are actually brothers and strangely NEVER challenge each other in this way when the other two older rats aren’t around. It’s bizarre and I haven’t found anyone else who have seen rats do this for so long (sometimes for five minutes straight).
The cage in the video is a hamster cage, not a rat cage and is much, much too small for even a single rat. They do not live in it and was used only for introducing these two pairs in a confined space. They live in a four foot tall cage with many hammocks, ropes and soft beds, so no worries guys ;)
I didn’t have speakers on, so didn’t get to hear the music. A shame, because that song is pretty amazing. (Not to mention the video, which blows my mind every time.)
The fact that the video stood on its own sans music is pretty impressive, non? (As was the co-worker reaction in my office!) I will have to check it out again with music for the full effect.

The music is ‘Windowlicker’ by Aphex Twin.
WOW. I am dying to know what they’re talking about.
That so improved my shitty morning mood that I’m about to e-mail it to my co-workers.

The music is essential to the tripitude!
