Let’s say my computer was stolen today. I would want to recover a snapshot of my files from yesterday’s backup. As part of that, if a file of mine was deleted 5 days ago, I don’t want it in my snapshot. IDrive isn’t capable of that :-( I spoke to 3 IDrive representatives over the […]

For my northern California friends… With wildfire season warming up, here’s a tip… Rather than spend big bucks on air filters that will take up lots of space in your closet most of the year, get MERV 13 or better air filters for your furnace. Putting those filters on a fan also works very well. […]

A friend just asked, “Trying to do better with my computer. Just installed AVG for Mac and ran it. Is this a sufficient solution in terms of protecting from and eliminating malware? I’m all about easy. Thoughts?” Here is my long winded answer: I use Windows and all of my antivirus software is between my […]

I use a program to back up my computer online. It’s really good, it has saved me and Megan a couple times. Would you like to trade backup space? You backup your computer to me to me for free, I backup my computer to you for free. Message me.

That story you were writing? Your customer database? Your source code? What if your building burns down? Or if […]

I pay for the Crashplan backup service and I’m quite happy with it. There is an option where you can backup to your friend’s computer for free. I’d like to trade backup space with a friend (you?) “just in case”. My backup is about 250 gig. I would happily trade about 250 gig on my […]
This is going out mostly to friends of mine… Would you like to be my Crashplan.com backup buddy? I’ve been playing with it a bit now and I feel pretty good about it. We trade disk space on each others computers… we can’t see each other’s data, but it’s backed up nicely. And it doesn’t […]

I heard on Security Now about Crash Plan. It looks like it might be an excellent online backup tool. I had been fiddling with the idea of using BoxBackup (local mention). But it was too much of a bother to set up (and limited to <2 GB files). Right now I use Mozy and I’m […]

The old backup program had some issue when I moved servers. This one doesn’t have any issues. I didn’t install the very latest 1.7, I installed a slightly older one because it wasn’t compatible with WP1.5 WP-DB-Backup
