Don't use TIAC

The Internet Access Company, an ISP based in Massachusetts, in the face of all reason, pursued an action against me for $300 from November of 1998 until June of 1999. The short form is that I ordered services from them, I didn't receive the services in a timely manner so I cancelled the order in accordance with their refund policy, they pursued me nevertheless. Check below for the whole story.

I would strongly suggest you not to use this company because it's impossible to tell if they will go crazy on you the way they did with me.

Here are several letters and documents concerning my case with TIAC.

• Ray Huff at the law firm is still saying that I logged 40 hours of service with TIAC so the charges will stay. I didn't. To refute this (not that I have to because their refund policy doesn't depend on the number of hours of service used but I'll do it anyway), I'll have phone bills (I used long distance internet access while I was waiting for my TIAC service to start), and statements from my old and new ISPs saying when I started and cancelled service. Of course that isn't definitive proof but why would I use my TIAC service, which I had recently cancelled while I'm still paying top dollar to connect to my old ISP via long distance?
• 6/28/99- I Spoke with Damian Smith in the Credit Department for the 3rd... 4th? time and..... dum dum dum.... the matter is settled! They are going to just go away and not bother me again. Score one for the good guys. But like the British said about the battle of Bunker Hill "Any more victories like this one and we'll be ruined." It took more than 6 months of jerking around with these guys to settle this. Using this ISP is an accident waiting to happen.
