Connecting to Reverie via Telnet

This is how to connect to Reverie via the "telnet" program if you are using Windows 3.1, 95, or 98.

This isn't the best way to connect to Reverie because whenever another user sends you a message, it will mess up anything you are in the middle of typing. If you don't know what I mean, you'll understand after you use it a while.

Click the Win 95 "Start" button
On the Start menu, click "Run..."
In the "Open" box, type "telnet" and then hit Enter
A blankish window titled "Telnet" should appear.

Look at the top of this window and click on the "Terminal" button.
On the left side of the window, make sure that "Local Echo" is checked.
Click OK.
Note that if you use Telnet for other things, you might have to switch this off after you're done using Reverie. If you don't use Telnet for anything else, don't worry about it.

Look at the top of this window and click on the "Connect" button.
Click on the "Remote System..." pulldown.
A window titled "Connect" will appear.
For "Host Name" type "swiftmail.com"
For the "port" replace the word "telnet" with the number "7777"
Leave TermType as "vt100"
Click Connect.
You should be connected to Reverie in just a second or two. You'll see the big sword introduction screen.
